Born in Venice. During his early years starts his apprenticeship with his uncle, Matteo Lucchesi.

Starts work in Rome as a draughtsman for Marco Foscarini. Starts his studies under Giuseppe Vasi, who introduced him to the art of etching and engraving.

Collaborated with pupils of the French Academy in Rome and starts to produce a series of vedute (views) of the Rome. Prima parte di Architettura e Prospettive published (1743).
